Green smoothies make an excellent raw food breakfast. There are many combinations for green smoothies. The basic concept is that you want to have plenty of dark green vegetables as the base for excellent high density nutrition. To this you add fresh fruit for taste and to provide high quality carbohydrates. You can also add other foods, for example raw almond butter for protein, or even more vegetables like carrots.

Here is my favorite recipe, along with its nutritional values.

Mix in a blender with 1/2 cup of water, 3 oz. spinach, 1 medium banana, 1 medium apple, 1 medium carrot and 1 tablespoon of raw almond butter. Blend for approximately 1 minute or until smooth. Drink right away - delicious!!! Calories: 326 Fat: 9 grams Carbohydrates: 64 grams Protein: 6 grams
