Raw Nuts Are A Great Source Of Protein!

raw nuts are a great source of protein

Raw nuts are a great source of protein! In fact raw walnuts, which are considered a "superfood" due to excellent nutrient density, have quite a bit of protein. Walnuts can be eaten throughout the day as a snack, or used as a crunchy topping on your salad. They also low in saturated fat, with only about 1 gram per serving, while providing 2 grams of fiber.

Here is the nutritional data for 1 ounce of raw walnuts:

Calories 173, Fat 17 grams, Carbohydrates 3 grams, and Protein 7 grams.

I eat about 1 oz. of raw, soaked almonds daily. This has about 160 Calories, of which 116 are fat calories. The good kind of fat dominates. 14 grams of unsaturated fat vs. only 1 gram of saturated. There is no cholesterol in almonds. They have 6 grams of carbs, 3 grams of fiber, and only 1 gram of sugar. In the 1 oz. serving is also 6 grams of protein! In addition there is 7% Daily Value (DV) of Calcium, and 6% DV of Iron.
